Shiven Under 18s advanced in the Connaught Cup following a thriller against Ahascragh in Ahascragh, by winning 4 – 3 after extra time. Having gone one nil down just before half time, Shiven went 2 – 1 up with 2 goals in 2 minutes by James Mulrooney and Adrian Gavin in the 51st and 52nd minutes. However, Ahascragh hit a purple patch midway through the 2nd half and scored twice to go 3 – 2 up. The busy Eoin Brown scored for Shiven on 83 minutes to take the game to extra time. Adrian Gavin scored a stunning low shot from 20 yards in the 109th minute to put Shiven back in front, and ultimately into the next round. Captain Conor McDonald lorded the backline, with Ciaran Browne having a great performance while Adam Farrell pulled the strings in midfield in a great team performance.
